Diana Bacosi

Diana Bacosi (born July 13, 1983 in Città della Pieve ) is an Italian marksman in the discipline of skeet .

Athletic career

Bacosi started her international career with a 16th place at the European Championships in 2004, the following year she finished eleventh. Tenth place followed in 2007 and eighth place in 2008. In 2008 she also won her first World Cup in Suhl. In 2009 she became the mother of a son. After her return to the sport, it took her some time to get back to the top positions.

In 2013 Diana Bacosi reached sixth place at the World Championships in Lima. The following year she finished 14th at the European Championships and 15th at the World Championships. In 2015 she won two World Cups in Al Ain and Larnaka. At the world championships in Lonato she finished ninth, at the European championships she reached eleventh place. At the 2015 European Games in Baku, British Amber Hill won the skeet , with Diana Bacosi winning silver in front of her compatriot Chiara Cainero . In 2016, Bacosi only finished 23rd at the European Championships in Lonato. At the 2016 Olympics , both Bacosi and Cainero made it to the semi-finals in the skeet. There the two Italians took the lead with 16 and 15 goals and reached the final. In the final, Cainero missed the first target, after which both shooters hit all targets. In the end, Bacosi won gold ahead of 2008 Olympic champion Chiara Cainero and 2012 Olympic champion Kim Rhode from the United States.

In 2017, Bacosi came fifth at the World Championships in Moscow and sixth at the European Championships in Baku. In 2018 came eleventh place at the world championships and twelfth place at the European championships. At the 2019 European Games in Minsk, Bacosi won the skeet competition ahead of Lucie Anastassiou and Chiara Cainero from France. In the mixed competition, Cainero and Gabriele Rossetti won ahead of Diana Bacosi and Riccardo Filippelli .
