Diana Forbes-Robertson

Diana Forbes-Robertson (born December 26, 1915 in London , † December 9, 1987 in London) was a British author. She came from a well-known family of actors.

Life

Diana Forbes-Robertson was the daughter of the famous English actor Johnston Forbes-Robertson and his wife Lady Gertrude. She spent her childhood in Kent, near Dover. In 1935 she married the well-known US journalist Vincent Sheean (1899–1975). The two often traveled together to political arenas such as Spain and Czechoslovakia. Forbes-Robertson wrote articles for the New York Herald Tribune. The two later wrote books together. With the beginning of the German air raids on London, the two alternative families in the USA mediated for English children. Eventually they got themselves to safety in New York. Sheean soon returned to England to report for the Saturday Evening Post. They divorced in 1946, but they remarried three years later. The couple had two daughters, one of whom became an actress in London.

Forbes-Robertson also worked as a freelance writer, for example for American Heritage magazine . She died of a stroke at St. Stephen's Hospital in London at the age of 72.
