Diana Karenne (* 1888 in Kiev , according to other sources in Danzig ; † October 14, 1940 in Aachen ; born in Leucadia Konstantia ) was a cosmopolitan actress , film director and film producer .

Life

The sister of the film producer Gregor Rabinowitsch appeared in 1914 at Roma-Film and then at Aquila-Film in Turin . During the First World War, she became one of the most famous actresses in Italian silent film.

From 1916 she directed several films with her as the leading actress and also contributed the script. In 1917 she founded her own film production company in Milan . From 1921 she also took on leading roles in German films, as well as in France. Karenne was also a painter, musician and poet. With the dawn of the sound film age, it was forgotten. She died as a result of an air raid.
