Diana L. Paxson (* 20th February 1943 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American writer of historical fantasy - novels .

With her sister-in-law Marion Zimmer Bradley , she wrote the fifth volume of the Avalon saga and, after the death of her sister-in-law, finished the sequel The Ancestors of Avalon . She herself became known for her Westria cycle. The work The Daughters of the Nibelungs , in which she retold the Nibelung saga, was more in the direction of a historical novel . In addition to her historical and fantasy novels, the avowed Asatru also wrote about runes and the Asatru religion. She lives in Greyhaven , an artist home in Berkeley , California , where Marion Zimmer Bradley also lived.
