history
Diderot Media initially offered multimedia services and in 2001, as Diderot Verlag, shifted the focus to the production of audio books. In 2004, media service and publishing came together in the first German download portal for audio books soforthoeren.de . Since January 1st 2007 the company has been operating under the name Diderot Media, a limited partnership with three shareholders. Diderot Media is considered a download pioneer in the B2C , B2B and B2B2C area and has published a sales growth of 60% for 2008. At the beginning of 2011 it was announced that the ekz had acquired the direct portals of Diderot Media KG through its subsidiary "4Readers GmbH & Co. KG" .
Audio book productions
Victor Hugo's Les Misérables is one of the publisher's best-known audio books . The DVD published in 2003 with Gert Westphal as the narrator is, according to the publisher, the longest audio book in the world with 56 hours of playing time. Navigating through the 360 chapters of the audio book is the same as with a film DVD. Beyond the audio book focus, a reader was published in 2008 in honor of the eponym (“Do you ever know where you're going?”, Edited by Werner Raupp ) about Denis Diderot .
Digital services
Since 2007, Diderot Media has offered retailers white label portals in the B2B sector . In this area, Diderot Media 2009 describes itself as the market leader with over 60 publishing and retail shops . For the website of stationary bookstores , Diderot Media has developed customizable download shops in cooperation with the Umbreit bar range . Since 2009, Diderot Media has been offering rights-issuers and content providers services in the field of digital distribution ( uploading , conversion , embedding protective mechanisms against software piracy ).
