The Rivers of London series (alternatively the Peter Grant series or the PC Grant series ) is a series of urban fantasy novels by the English author Ben Aaronovitch . There are now several comic offsets of the books, the first entitled "Body Work", which Aaronovitch wrote with Andrew Cartmel ; the illustrations were made by Lee Sullivan .

Peter Grant has just completed his training as a Police Constable (PC) at the Metropolitan Police Service (MET) and is about to start a desk job when he is investigating a series of murders . Since the mysterious deaths take place without outside influence, this calls the head of a special unit for "special cases" on the scene. Police Inspector Thomas Nightingale is the last active wizard under the British Crown and Grant becomes his apprentice. The stories are written with Grant as the first-person narrator.
