The Manila Baby Factory (Original Title: Motherland ) is a documentary by Ramona S. Diaz released in 2017 . It shows the maternity ward of a public hospital in the Philippine capital Manila. With up to 100 births per day, the ward is one of the largest and most overcrowded maternity wards in the world. In the cinéma vérité style , the film shows, without commentary, the events on the ward, from the admission of pregnant women to childbirth, childbed and discharge from hospital. For the film, Diaz won the Viktor Prize at DOK.fest Munich and the Editing Award at the Sundance Film Festival .
