The story takes place in Lima at the time of Fujimori dictatorship in the late 1990s and attacks the machinations of the former intelligence chiefs Vladimiro Montesinos on. This used the tabloids to defame unpleasant people , which happens to the main character Enrique, a wealthy engineer and businessman. Two further topics are connected with this: A love story between Enrique's wife and a befriended couple and the decline of the artists' quarter Cinco Esquinas ("Five Street Corners") in the old town of Lima. Thus, the book, which was published shortly before the Peruvian presidential elections in 2016, in which Fujimori's daughter was running again, is not only a political work, but also a story about art and entertainment that ties in with the culturally pessimistic view of the author of “Alles Boulevard”.
