The play was premiered on March 4, 1995 at the Schwaben State Theater in Memmingen . Yorg Schienle directed the film, while the author took on the role of Dominikus Schmeinta. The play was performed on other stages, for example at the Bavarian Theater Days in Hof , where it was premiered , where it was also awarded. The first international takeover of the play took place on March 14, 2002 at the Austrian Theater Spielraum under the direction of Dieter Horký .

One day, the seriously injured, simple villager Dominikus Schmeinta is no longer allowed to use his favorite bench at the Ottersdorf train station. A sign "Only for Jews " forbids him to use "his bench", on which he has been sitting for 20 years. He no longer understands the world and ponders the effects of National Socialism on life in his village.
Dominikus decides to become a Jew himself in order to get back his rights to sit on the bench and writes to the Führer in Berlin. The matter takes its course, and Dominikus finds himself in the sanatorium . Shortly before the end of the war, the inmates of the sanatorium were relocated.

The Süddeutsche Zeitung called Die Judenbank a quiet, convincing text and a “touching, finely crafted one-person piece”.
Award
In 1995 the play received the sponsorship award of the Bavarian Theater Days in Hof.
