Die Kinder vom Mühlental (original title: Urwisy z Doliny Młynów ) is a twelve-part television series for children that was created in 1985 as a Polish- German co-production . The series is produced by Janusz Łęski .

The German first broadcast was on September 25, 1986 in the first , since then the series has been broadcast several times on various third programs. It was first broadcast in Poland on October 27, 1985. Each episode is approximately 30 minutes long.

The series tells the adventures of six children (Stanni, Bärbel, Anja, Martha, Jacek and Wacek) who live in Mühlental, a fictional village in Poland.

The storyteller is Jacki the stork , who comes back to Mühlental in spring in the first episode. There he is eagerly awaited by all residents. After his arrival, Jacki decides to observe the children for a year and to pass what he experiences on to the audience .

In the second episode, Captain Groschny appears as the new sea keeper. At first the children are afraid of him because he is supposed to be very strict, but after getting to know him better they make friends with him. Groschny often helps the children in the course of the series.

When winter comes back at the end of the series, Jacki decides not to fly south this year. The last episode takes place at Christmas .

Die Kinder vom Mühlental (original title: "Urwisy z Doliny Młynów") was the first German-Polish co-production after the conclusion of an agreement between the Committee for Radio and Television (Warsaw) and the WDR in 1984. WDR was involved in the development of this series essentially involved.

Klemens and Klementinchen

The 13-part follow-up series Klemens and Klementinchen was created in 1987, but takes place before Die Kinder im Mühlental .

The ten-minute episodes tell how Stanni and Bärbel hatch, raise and protect the two geese Klemens and Klementinchen from their natural enemies. The first broadcast was from July 1989 on WDR .

  • There is a spelling mistake in the end credits : The word “voice” is written with three “m” (ie “voice”).
  • Stork Jacki says goodbye at the end of each episode with “Well then!”.
  • In 1989 a new children's series with Janna was produced with similar content and some of the same actors
