occupation

The power of the sword is a German-Spanish-English Fantasy - television series that in 1994 England was filmed and first aired in 1997 in Germany. It deals with the adventures of two immortal brothers (leading actor Bryan Brown in a double role), one of whom rule the world, the other wants to save it.

action

Towards the end of the first millennium, twin brothers Adam and Zachary are born. Their looks are identical in every way, but the two are not in the least similar in essence. When they finally grow up, each of them receives a magic stone set in the hilt of a sword . These stones have an extraordinary power that reveals the soul of whoever possesses them.

In the present, Adam, who lives in a posh villa near Salzburg and works as a businessman, barely escapes a mysterious murder attempt and inexplicably heals. Adam slowly becomes aware of his mission and his past. He begins to realize that he is none other than the reborn restless knight known as the "Wanderer"; an immortal hero chosen to help people in need. Adam also knows that he has a mortal enemy: his own brother Zachary, because he was able to defeat him in the Middle Ages , but he has now returned with the mysterious Beatrice to take revenge and take over the world .

On his way across Germany, England and Spain, Adam is accompanied by the monk Gobold, who has stood by him in previous lives. Adam also knows the beautiful Clare from his past. For his personal assistant Wolfgang Mathias, who actually only wanted a good job with a respected businessman, the new circumstances are inexplicable.

background

The Power of the Sword was produced as an international co-production by Yorkshire Television, German ZDF and Spanish broadcaster Antena 3 . The plot, which runs across these lands, is completed within the existing thirteen episodes, each telling a self-contained story in which further aspects of Adam and Zachary's past are revealed.

The German author Wolfgang Hohlbein wrote the novel The Wanderer - Wiedergeburt based on the script of the first episode .
