The Metropol Vocalists were a German vocal quartet from Berlin .
It was founded by the pianist Kurt Bangert . Further members were Wilfried Sommer (1st tenor), Günther Leider (2nd tenor), Peter Purand (baritone) and Richard Westmeyer (bass).
Apparently following on from the model of the Comedian Harmonists , it recorded over 550 titles on record between 1933 and 1956. It worked with the dance orchestras of Michael Jary , Lewis Ruth , Eugen Wolff , Billy Bartholomew , Adalbert Lutter , Heinz Huppertz , and others. The group has also performed under the names The Five Parodisters , The Five Gloria Singing Guitarists , The Five Gloria Vocalists , The Funny Quintuplets, and The Gloria Vocalists .
