With a sold circulation of 13,408 copies and a reach of almost 60,000 readers, these publications represent, alongside the local editions of the competing Badische Zeitung , the second largest daily newspaper in their area of circulation.
Martin Pförtner is the managing director. Responsible editor / chief editor for the three local parts is Guido Neidinger.
Company history
The forerunner of the Jaumann publishing house was launched on September 12, 1885 under the name of the Free People's Journal by Georg Jaumann († 1961) and Hans Netzer († 1927). This makes it the oldest newspaper in Lörrach. From the beginning of 1908 the newspaper appeared under the title Oberbadisches Volksblatt . On September 1, 2006, the name was changed to Die Oberbadische . At the time of National Socialism, the paper stayed on a relatively neutral line despite the fact that it was brought into line, although this caused some difficulties with the rulers. In the post-war period the newspaper was idle for a few years. The first post-war edition appeared on October 1, 1949. After the death of his grandfather in 1961, Hansjörg Jaumann, who was only 25 years old, took over the newspaper publisher. He expanded the now two local parts of the Oberbadisches Volksblatt and Weiler Zeitung , which led to an increase in circulation, and cooperated with the Black Forest Bote by taking over its supraregional shell section . In 1973 the Markgräfler Tagblatt was taken over, the oldest newspaper in the Lörrach district . At the beginning of the 1990s, the house introduced full-page make-up .
As a member of the Schwarzwälder Bote Mediengesellschaft mbH (SBM), Die Oberbadische is part of the Südwestdeutsche Medien Holding , in which the Medien Union from Ludwigshafen and the Württemberg publisher group are the largest individual shareholders.
