The PDS in the West 1990–2005. Conclusions for a new left is the title of a non-fiction book by the political scientist Meinhard Meuche-Mäker published by Karl Dietz Verlag Berlin in 2005 . The font was published as the 25th volume in the series of texts of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung . Meuche-Mäker analyzes why the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) could not establish itself successfully in the party landscape of the old federal states between 1990 and 2005 . From this he derives possible strategies for overcoming the crisis of the PDS in West Germany .

The work was reviewed by Harald Bergsdorf , among others, in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and regularly picked up in the press and in academic literature. The Federal Agency for Civic Education refers to the book as reference literature on Die Linke .
