The Rose and the Nightingale (also known as Gül ve Bülbül ) is a German television film directed by Ursula Kolarz . The film was first broadcast on April 17, 1978 on ZDF. Directed by Frank Guthke .

The problem-oriented film tells the love story of a Turkish guest worker and a GDR citizen in Berlin.

In West Berlin living Foreign Ismail Aktürk learn during a visit to East Berlin on the Alexanderplatz , the East German Ulrike patina - daughter of an SED functionary - know.
