The scene
The scene was a German magazine for theater , which appeared from 1911 to 1933. It was published by the Association of Artistic Stage Directors and is in Berlin with the Vita publishers . German publishing house (1911–1922), FA Günther & Sohn (1922–1925) and Oesterheld (1925–1933) published in monthly issues.
It was one of the most important theater magazines of its time and dealt with general questions of the art of acting, directing problems, the interpretation of individual drama scenes with a view to the performance practice, topics of theater history of importance for current theater practice and status issues. Book reviews and art supplements were attached.
Special issues
The special issues on special subjects were of particular value: Goethe's Götz , Mozart's Don Giovanni , Don Carlos , Fidelio , Faust and August Strindberg . A programmatic announcement states that the magazine “endeavors to publish interesting facts in every issue for the work of directors of operas and drama, dramaturges, band masters, artistic advisors and technical directors, dramatic authors and actors”.
