The Singphoniker are a German vocal soloist ensemble from Munich .

Artistic work

The male sextet was founded in 1982 by six students from the Munich Music Academy based on the model of the Comedian Harmonists . They soon expanded their repertoire, which today includes vocal chamber music from the time Gregorian chant was written to modern times as well as folk songs, Christmas carols, pop music and other crossover projects. In the meantime, contemporary composers such as Enjott Schneider , Max Beckschäfer and Wilfried Hiller have also written their own works for the ensemble.

Since 1987 the professional musicians have recorded over 30 CDs with works from the Romantic period, the Renaissance, with contemporary sacred music, Gregorian chant, but also with songs by the Comedian Harmonists or hits from pop music.

The ensemble, which goes on concert tours throughout Europe and overseas, was awarded first prize at the international choir competition in Gorizia / Italy in 1988 . For the first complete recording of all of Franz Schubert's chants for male voices , they were awarded the 1997 Grand Prix du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy by Radio France.
