The Toggo 5 is the name of a German music project. It was formed at the end of 2006 from the five presenters of the children's program Toggo TV of the German television channel Super RTL in order to record a single for the Christmas business.

background

The station had already successfully produced a Christmas album, Christmas World , the year before with the band Banaroo, which it had put together and marketed through its children's program . The resulting single Coming Home for Christmas reached the top ten of the sales charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

To build on this success, the five presenters Nina Moghaddam , David Wilms , Florian Ambrosius , Paddy Kroetz and Marcus Werner recorded the single My Wish for Christmas . The rap lyrics were written by Tommy-Ess , who then sold the rights to Reinhard Raith ( Voodoo & Serano ), who then produced the song. The song followed the same formula with which Banaroo were already successful: a slow pop track that was underlaid with Christmas arrangements. The melody was taken from the pop song "Esli hochesch ostat'sya" by the Russian pop band "Diskoteka Avariya".

The single was chosen as the official song of the charity campaign ChariTree of the TV channel RTL . From the proceeds of every CD sold, one euro was donated to the School Gift Project , an aid initiative for children and young people in Berlin at risk of and suffering from addiction . After its release, it immediately reached the top 20 of the German single charts.
