Patrick "Paddy" Kroetz (born August 23, 1978 in Dillenburg ) is a German reporter , television presenter and web video producer who was seen from 1999 to 2018 on the television broadcaster Super RTL .

Life

In his childhood and youth, Paddy was handicapped by stuttering in Gönnern in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district . From 1994 to 1997 he shot his own home TV show called “extrem.shitzophren” with a Hi8 camera with friends, with sketches and interviews with celebrities. Every two months he produced a new edition and sent it to various television stations and editorial offices. He confidently presented himself as the "first stuttering moderator". Because of his unusual hobby, he was invited to various talk shows in the 1990s. From 1997 to 1998 he completed a traineeship at Nickelodeon and thus fulfilled his dream of becoming a full-time moderator. He worked as a “mad reporter” and produced over 100 clips of “Paddy on the move”. He dropped the addition “first stuttering presenter”, however, because the camera was increasingly developing into his very own therapy. During this time he interviewed a. a. the Backstreet Boys , Aaron Carter , Judith Hildebrandt or various players from FC Bayern Munich .

Moderated in 1999 and produced for Super RTL the four-hour New Year's show "Popcorn Live" in the Cologne Arena and interviewed while stars like Scooter , Loona or Oli.P . This show was repeated many years later on New Year's Eve, which is why Paddy calls it Super RTL's Dinner for One . In the summer of 2000, “Paddy on the move” became the program “Paddy On Tour”. He hosted Super RTL's first holiday program on Mallorca . Filming on the island in the summer of 2000 took a total of seven weeks.

Super RTL signed Paddy Kroetz until the end of 2009. In addition to “Paddy On Tour”, he hosted the children's program Toggo TV from 2002 to 2008 together with Nina Moghaddam . In addition, there are regular projects such as “Lucky Day”, “Inventor's Day”, the Toggotour or “Halloween”. In his spare time he produces music videos and live videos. Paddy has been a punk rock fan since 1993 . In 2004 he made sure that the Swedish band No Fun At All , which had been dissolved since 2001, played a reunion concert in the well-known Cologne concert location "Underground". The concert was sold out within just eight days. It was also the impetus for the reunification of the band, which at the end of 2008 released a new album with "Low Rider".

In 2006 he produced a comedy pilot show “Ready, Paddy, Show!” On his own. Super RTL took a liking to the idea, after which three episodes were produced. He wrote all the scripts. The film was shot in his one-room apartment in the Agnesviertel in Cologne. The director Matthias Schwab acted as co-producer. In 2007 Paddy Kroetz was nominated for the Adolf Grimme Prize for “Ready, Paddy, Show!” .

In 2007/2008 Paddy fulfilled another musical dream. He learned to play the guitar, put together a cover band ( Die Coverlire ), recorded a professional CD (“That will have an aftermath”) and organized a secret concert of his favorite band Millencolin in Cologne's “Underground”. At this concert on March 17, 2008 he appeared as the opening act with “Die Coverlire”. Other bands that evening were Itchy Poopzkid , SPN-X , 3 Feet Smaller and The Earwix from Paddy's hometown Gönnern . The CD "That will have an aftermath" was limited to 500 copies. It contains mostly paddy's favorite songs. Pieces by NOFX , Social Distortion , No Use for a Name , Die Ärzte , Randy , Helloween , The Doors and the title song of the sitcom King of Queens were reenacted. The German voice actors for Doug, Carry and Arthur speak the intro on the CD.

On September 30, 2008, the first volume of the children's book series “The Adventures of the Rasselbande” came on the market, for which he is responsible for the story. The illustrated book also includes an audio CD with pieces of music for which the musician Hans-Jörg Fischer ( The Busters , Farin Urlaub Racing Team ) is responsible.

The album Just Another Damn Mixtape by “Die Coverlire” has been on sale since September 9, 2011 . The guests on the CD were Sibbi from Itchy Poopzkid, Nico from KIZ, Costa from Sondaschule and Ron from The Busters.

Together with Henning Harperath, he is currently the presenter of retro-tv , an irregular online broadcast about old TV programs. The show was nominated for the Grimme Online Award in 2010 and made second place in the audience award.

The cooperation with Super RTL was ended by the TV station at the end of November 2018. He has been publishing videos on his YouTube channel Paddy's Microkosmos since the beginning of 2019 . Since July 2019 he has presented the magazine Paddy Retro Cosmos on the fee-based portal mass taste TV by Holger Kreymeier .

Paddy also acts as an ambassador for the dolphin network.
