The plot is roughly the same as that of Collins' work. The action takes place in the future. The world is ruled by a totalitarian government called Capital, with its president Snow Maiden. In the land of Panem - which used to be North America - cruel games are held every year, in which 24 so-called tributes fight each other in an open-air arena to the death, until a surviving winner remains. They are selected through what is known as a nose game. Whoever is last to touch his nose becomes tribute. The country is divided into 12 districts, up from 200 before a failed uprising. District 12 is the telemarketing district. The main character Kantkiss Neverclean lives in it.
