Diego Luzuriaga

Diego Luzuriaga (* 1955 in Loja ) is an Ecuadorian composer .

Luzuriaga studied at the École Normale de Musique in Paris , the Manhattan School of Music and Columbia University in New York . His teachers included Gerardo Guevara , Yoshihisa Taira and Mesías Maiguashca .

In Ecuador, Luzuriaga was engaged in the research and recording of folk music from the Andes as well as Latin American music. He has received numerous compositions from international orchestras and ensembles and a Guggenheim grant in 1992 .

In addition to an opera and orchestral works, he composed works for choir and orchestra, chamber music and songs.
