Dierk Schmäschke

Dierk Schmäschke (born April 2, 1958 in Niebüll ) is a German handball manager and former handball player.

Life

He played for SG Weiche-Handewitt in the 1980s and was managing director of the successor club SG Flensburg-Handewitt from 1996 to 2003 . After a brief return to his profession as a teacher, he went to HSV Hamburg in 2003 , where he worked as a consultant, managing director and from 2006 as a full-time vice president. For the 2011/12 season he returned to the SG as a manager in Flensburg.

Dierk Schmäschke is also the Vice President of the Forum Club Handball - the association of European top clubs in indoor handball.

Dierk Schmäschke is married and has two children. His wife Meike Schmäschke as well as their daughter Kaja Kristina Schmäschke and their son Niels Oke Schmäschke play handball.

Playful successes

As a player he was active between 1979 and 1993, first with SG Weiche-Handewitt and later with SG Flensburg-Handewitt. During this period he played 308 competitive games. During his time as manager, managing director or vice-president at SG Flensburg-Handewitt and HSV Handball, the clubs won several national and international titles:

  • SG Flensburg-Handewitt (until 2003): 3 European Cup wins, 1 DHB Cup victory, 1 Supercup victory
  • HSV Handball (2004–2011): 2 Supercup victories, 1 European Cup victory, 2 DHB Cup victories, 1 German championship
  • SG Flensburg-Handewitt (from 2011): 2 European Cup victories, 2 Supercup victories, 1 DHB Cup victory, 2 German championships
