Dieter Bös

Dieter Bös (born August 4, 1940 in Prague ; † June 20, 2004 in Bonn ) was an Austrian lawyer and economist.

Life and Research Area

Bös first studied law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate for the first time in 1963. He then turned to economics and received his doctorate again in 1968. He taught at the Universities of Graz and Vienna and in 1979 accepted an appointment at the University of Bonn , where he held the chair for finance until the end .

From 1973 Bös was editor of the Zeitschrift für Nationalökonomie (from 1986 Journal of Economics ). In 1984 he was one of the 27 founding members of the European Economic Association .

Bös gained international recognition through his contributions to the theory of public companies as well as their privatization and regulation. To this end, he wrote several books and published numerous articles in international journals.
