Dieter Becker (born July 14, 1963 in Steffenberg ) is a Protestant theologian, pastor and business economist.

Life

Becker studied Protestant theology at the Philipps University of Marburg and at the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg as well as business administration a. a. at the University of Kaiserslautern . In addition to the ecclesiastical degree as a theologian (first and second exams), Becker has a degree as a certified business economist . He is pastor of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau EKHN (currently Paulusgemeinde Raunheim - Pfarrstelle II; part service 50%) and as the managing director of a strategy consulting company for banks, the automotive and film / media industries. For several years he was a lecturer in business ethics and cultural sociological organizational development at Heilbronn University .

Act

His scientific focus lies in the connection between theoretical models and their practical relevance for organizations due to the resulting changes in reality. The basic assumption is that empirical approaches in a differentiated environment ( postmodernism ) can no longer lead to sustainable results or models of understanding, but that empirical data can only open up points of contact for shaping the future. Thus, for Becker, it is the task of science to provide models that can be linked to the design of current and future requirements; and fewer models of interpretation or interpretation of the present.

Theology, church

Together with Peter Höhmann and Richard Dautermann, Becker developed and carried out the first full empirical survey of pastors in a Protestant regional church in 2001 with regard to the self-perception of the pastor's profession (keywords: job and job satisfaction) and is considered to be the “inventor” of the pastor . With Wolfgang Nethöfel he conducted surveys in other regional churches.

Becker did his doctorate under Karl-Wilhelm Dahm on the subject of personnel-strategic challenges of the pastor's profession in the 21st century at the Westphalian Wilhelms-Universität Münster in the department of systematic theology .

In his publications, empirical and business issues are synergistically combined with theological issues. The concept of church theory plays a central role here. The aim is to enable the church organizations to shape the future in a practical way. Based on specific areas of change, Becker describes the effects on Protestant theology, the church and pastoral requirements. To this end, he partly introduces new terms (such as "solitary burial") to open up design horizons.

Business administration

With regard to business research, Becker has been working on organizational models from the sociology of culture and how these can be implemented in corporate structures within the globalization of the world economy. The practical relevance of theoretical models such as process optimization ( CIP ), quality management , organizational development and leadership training form the focus of his work.

Becker introduced the term aging as a self-closing process for thinking and solution models in business administration. This self-closing of conventional models of understanding leads to a problematic gap in dealing with changed perceptions of reality in the transition from epochs.
