Dieter Bornschlegel

Dieter Bornschlegel (born January 26, 1954 in Dortmund ) is a German rock guitarist, singer, composer and lyricist who became famous in connection with the era of German herb rock music. Today he is mainly on stage with solo projects.

Life

As early as 1966, at the age of twelve, Bornschlegel, who has been playing guitar since he was seven, gave his first public concert with the Dortmund band “The Dead Cops” (later “Prestige”) together with his brother Josef Bornschlegel (bass). After an unfinished apprenticeship as a technical draftsman, he worked as a zoo keeper in the Dortmund zoo. In 1970/71 he studied at the Dortmund Conservatory. Between 1971 and 1974 he was a member of the Hamburg band Atlantis, which was particularly successful in the USA and England . From 1976 to 1979 and later again between 1994 and 1997 Dieter Bornschlegel appeared on international stages with the influential Krautrock band Guru Guru . From 2001 to 2005 he worked with "Dein Schatten" on a Gothic / Industrial solo project.

Bornschlegel lives in Marburg and is currently performing an electroacoustic solo performance. He also teaches the guitar and gives drum courses at a music school in Fronhausen .
