Dieter Hauswirth

Dieter Hauswirth (* 1950 in Heiningen ) is a German teacher and politician ( CDU ). He was a consultant at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Baden-Württemberg and from 1999 to 2008 Lord Mayor of the Baden-Württemberg city of Metzingen .

Career

Hauswirth grew up in Heiningen in the Göppingen district . He started an apprenticeship as a hotel manager in Bonn, but did not finish it. Then attended the Pedagogical University in Esslingen and became a teacher. After graduating, he embarked on an administrative career and worked first in Hattenhofen and later at the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution . He became a personal advisor to Social Affairs Minister Annemarie Griesinger (CDU), and then held the same position with Barbara Schäfer (CDU). After the GDR joined the FRG , Hauswirth worked in Chemnitz to set up the administration there based on the West German model.

In 1999 he was elected Lord Mayor of Metzingen. In the April 2007 election, Hauswirth ran again and was confirmed in office with 98.7 percent of the votes.

Hauswirth campaigned for months to build a logistics hall for the Hugo Boss fashion group in the Neuhausen industrial area of ​​Braike-Wangen in the Metzingen district. The planned hall should be around 290 meters long, 180 meters wide and around 20 meters high. Hugo Boss said he wanted to create 400 new jobs in the city , which is known for its outlet shops .

In the first referendum in the history of Metzingen, a clear majority turned against the warehouse. With 61.2 percent of the votes cast, citizens pleaded for a halt to the development plan procedure. Hauswirth declared that the result of the vote was directed against the policy he represented and resigned.

Hauswirth then became managing director of the Paul Lechler Foundation . He lives in Ludwigsburg.
