Dieter Hellwig

Dieter Hellwig (born May 20, 1932 ; † probably May 1, 2008 in Xanten ) was a boat builder and successful German motorboat racer .

Sporting successes

Hellwig had success with racing boats with outboard motors in the classes OB (350 cm³), C-floor (petrol engines 500 cm³), D-floor (petrol engines 700 cm³), with utility boats with outboard motors in class DU (700 cm³), as well as with utility boats with inboard engines in class E 1 (2000 cm³). World speed record: 1 km, flying in both directions, distance record 12 miles with turns.
