Dieter Hogen (born May 16, 1953 in Pölzig ) is a German athletics trainer who coaches long-distance and marathon runners.

Born in Thuringia, he came to ASK Potsdam in 1973 as a runner . Two years later, however, he had to give up competitive sports after an operation on his leg. From then on he concentrated on his studies at the PH in Potsdam. Before he even received his diploma in 1978, he trained a group of 13 to 15 year olds at ASK . In 1986 he moved to the adult sector and coached a group of long distance runners. Among them was Uta Pippig , whom he led to third place in the 1989 IAAF World Cup marathon three years later .

After the fall of the Wall, he and Uta Pippig took part in a training camp in Colorado and decided to settle there. Today he leads a training group of around 25 runners (mainly black Africans, including Philip Tarus , Charles Kibiwott , Boaz Kimaiyo and Bob Tahru ) in Boulder and, supported by Pippig, offers seminars on nutrition.
