Dieter Kaufmann (University Chancellor)

Dieter Kaufmann (* 1956 in Tübingen ) is Chancellor of Ulm University and a member of the Medical Committee of the German Government's Science Council . In 2015 he was elected Federal Spokesman for the Chancellors of Germany's universities and was re-elected in this office in 2018.

Career

Kaufmann studied business administration at the University of Stuttgart and then became a consultant for planning and structural issues at his alma mater . In 1984 he became head of the finance department and thus responsible for financial management and the personnel budget of the same university. From 1996 to 2005 he also held the office of Deputy Chancellor.

Kaufmann has been Chancellor and thus a full-time board member of Ulm University since September 2005 . In 2012 he was unanimously confirmed by the university committees for a further term of eight years.

Kaufmann has been CEO of the Center for Science Management in Speyer since 2008 and was spokesman for the Baden-Württemberg university chancellor from 2009 to 2011.

In 2013, Kaufmann was appointed to the Medical Committee of the Science Council of the Federal Republic of Germany .

In October 2015, Kaufmann was elected Federal Spokesman of the Association of Chancellors of German Universities, succeeding Albert Berger (TU Munich) in this office.

Since 2020 Kaufmann has also been chairman of the Audit Committee of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
