Dieter Rehm (photo artist)
Dieter Rehm (* 1955 in Memmingen ) is a photo artist and president of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .
Life
Dieter Rehm was born in Memmingen in Upper Swabia in 1955 . From 1974 to 1981 he studied painting, photography and art education at the Munich Art Academy a. a. with Gerd Winner . From 1978 to 1996 he worked as a photographer for the visual design at ECM Records ; his first work for ECM was the photo illustrating the cover of The Touchstone album by the English group Azimuth . It showed the symbolic cloud line of an airplane on a glistening sky.
Since 2001 he has held a professorship for photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he also served as prorector from 2007 to 2009. In 2010 he was elected President, now in a second term.
He lives and works in Munich and Memmingen.
