Dieter Rex
Dieter Rex (born January 2, 1936 in Bad Frankenhausen ; † November 20, 2002 there ) was a German painter and graphic artist.
Career
Dieter Rex completed an apprenticeship as a set designer in 1954 before studying painting and tapestry weaving at the University of Industrial Design in Halle, Burg Giebichenstein from 1955 to 1960 . He was a student of Kurt Bunge , Lothar Zitzmann , Meinolf Splett and Willi Sitte . From 1961 he worked as a freelance artist. In 1978 he received the teaching assignment in Halle (Saale) . In 1986 he was appointed full professor for painting. Between 1986 and 1991 he was director of the visual and applied arts section .
From 1970 Rex became increasingly involved with landscape painting and the pastel technique.
In 1999 he went back to his hometown Bad Frankenhausen, where he died in 2002.
