Dietmar Öfner

Dietmar Öfner-Velano (born May 18, 1957 ) is an Austrian surgeon specializing in visceral surgery (surgical oncology, tumor surgery) and director of the University Clinic for Visceral, Transplant and Thoracic Surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck.

Life

After elementary school in Nassereith and the Bundesrealgymnasium in Imst, Öfner studied medicine in Innsbruck , where he also received his doctorate in 1984. After completing his specialist training, he did a research stay at the Gerhard Domagk Institute for Pathology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in 1994 . In 1995 he was awarded the license to teach as a university lecturer in general surgery. From 2004 to 2009 he was Deputy Director and Managing Senior Physician at the University Clinic for Visceral, Transplant and Thoracic Surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck. In 2009, Öfner was appointed to the University Clinic for Surgery at the Paracelsus Medical Private University. On March 1, 2015, appointment to the chair of the University Clinic for Visceral, Transplant and Thoracic Surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck.
