Dietmar Biesold

Dietmar Biesold (born July 28, 1925 in Zschachwitz , † January 19, 1991 in Leipzig ) was a German neurochemist.

After training as a neurochemist in Leipzig and Cardiff , Biesold was appointed to the first chair for neurochemistry in 1975. He was a co-founder of the Paul Flechsig Institute . The artist Daniel Biesold and the doctor Markus Biesold are sons of Dietmar Biesold.

Biesold was best known for his neuroscientific research into Alzheimer's and Wilson diseases . He also researched the change in synaptic plasticity in the context of ontogenetic development.
