Dietmar Sturzbecher (born October 22, 1953 in Vehlefanz ) is an adjunct professor for family, youth and educational sociology at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam and co-founder and director of the Institute for Applied Family, Childhood and Youth Research at the University of Potsdam (IFK eV).

Life

Between 1974 and 1978, Dietmar Sturzbecher completed a teaching degree at the Humboldt University in Berlin in the subjects of mathematics and physics with advanced training in educational psychology. Until 1985 he worked alongside his teaching activity as a lecturer for mathematics didactics at the pedagogical-psychological center for teacher training in Oranienburg.

From 1985 to 1988 Sturzbecher carried out research studies at the Institute for Educational Psychology in Berlin and obtained his doctorate in the context of a longitudinal analysis on the development of sociocognitive skills in preschool children. This was followed by a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation through the Free University of Berlin and teaching assignments at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Potsdam . In 1996 Sturzbecher completed his habilitation at the Human Sciences Faculty of the University of Potsdam on the following topic: How do preschool children experience their parents in problem and conflict situations? The family interaction test for children (FIT-K) as a family diagnostic tool for recording child reflections on parent-child interaction. This was followed in 1997 by the Venia legendi for educational psychology, family and youth psychology and in 2003 the re-habilitation at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam with the Venia legendi for family, youth and educational sociology. In 2005 Sturzbecher was appointed adjunct professor at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam.

In 1991 Sturzbecher founded the Institute for Applied Family, Childhood and Youth Research e. V., an affiliated institute of the university, which he still leads today. The main focus of the IFK is funding

  1. of science and research,
  2. youth welfare and the protection of marriage and family,
  3. upbringing as well as national and vocational training,
  4. traffic-related education, vocational training and accident prevention as well as
  5. crime prevention.

The IFK's field of work ranges from the development of pedagogical and psychological methods through the implementation of research and model projects to the scientific support and evaluation of measures by other providers. Since it was founded, around 250 projects have been processed and completed at IFK
