Dietrich (Brandenburg)

Dietrich was provost of Leitzkau from 1279 to 1303 . He belonged to the Premonstratensian Order .

Life

As provost of Leitzkau, Dietrich is documented from January 12, 1279 to September 22, 1303. After Richard did not accept the election as Bishop of Brandenburg, Dietrich was elected by the chapters of Brandenburg and Leitzkau as the new Bishop of Brandenburg. However, the Archbishop of Magdeburg, Erich von Brandenburg, opposed this choice . Therefore Dietrich, now Elekt , did not receive the papal confirmation . The Brandenburg and Leitzkau chapters then initiated a process in Rome so that Dietrich received his ordination as bishop. According to the Leitzkauer catalog of bishops, Dietrich saw himself as the legal bishop of Brandenburg. It was not until 1296 that Volrad von Krempa was appointed Bishop of Brandenburg by Pope Boniface VIII .
