Dietrich H. Litt

Dietrich H. Litt (* 1927 in Berlin ) is a German opera director .

As a child, Litt grew up with his grandparents, Anna and Hermann Litt , in Magdeburg and Berlin. In his youth he attended the Lessing-Gymnasium in Berlin-Wedding, where he studied in the same class as the later film director Egon Monk .

From 1950 Litt worked on a total of 101 opera productions in theaters and opera houses in the GDR , the last time in the 1976/77 season at what was then the Cottbus City Theater . Earlier places of professional activity were Magdeburg , Stendal , Neustrelitz , Schwerin and Radebeul . Litt has long been considered a specialist in the interpretation of Georg Philipp Telemann's operas . After finishing his theater career, Litt worked at the directorate for theater and orchestra at the Ministry of Culture of the GDR until the institution was dissolved in 1990 .

From 1946 to 1990 Litt was a member of the CDU (East) and since 1972 a member of the party's main executive committee.
