Dietrich Hahne (born June 10, 1961 in Bielefeld ) is a German composer, media artist and professor for “Composition and Visualization” at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.

Life

Dietrich Hahne studied composition and electronic composition at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen with Wolfgang Hufschmidt and Dirk Reith . This was followed by a degree in media art at the Art Academy for Media in Cologne a. a. at Werner Nekes and Dominik Graf , which he graduated in 1994 with a diploma (with distinction). In 1997 he founded the A / V media studio of the ICEM (Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media), which he has headed ever since. Since 2004 he has been professor for composition and visualization at the Folkwang University of the Arts.

Work concept

Based on the musical-compositional, i. H. Using time-based techniques, he has been dealing intensively with "immersive systems" in performative, audiovisual projects for more than three decades. His aesthetic definition of AtmoSphere is: Sonification – visualization, media stage – media space, KlangOrt – KlangRaum, “panorama”, in which the distinction between stage and auditorium is dynamically designed or canceled. Since 2014 he has been working on large-format photo computer graphics. Here, photos (from the web, video, film) are deconstructed (fragmented) in the computer and put together into extremely detailed new compositions. The resulting “MetaNarration” (simultaneity of several narrative levels) is based on the simultaneity of musical sound processes.
