Life

Kessler comes from a family of musicians. After graduating from high school, he studied music and German in what was then the GDR . He later became the band leader and composer of the rock band Klosterbrüder ( renamed Magdeburg in 1975 at state pressure ), with whom he produced several recordings as well as television appearances and international tours.

In September 1984, he was out of prison Cottbus ransomed and came to the West. In his autobiographical book Stasi-Knast , Kessler describes his experiences from this time.

Dietrich Kessler is also active as a musician for the monastery brothers and works as a composer and producer on various CD productions.
