Dietrich Kraft

Dietrich Kraft (* 1937 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian allergist and immunologist and holder of the Wilhelm Exner Medal .

Life

Dietrich Kraft was born in Innsbruck and studied human medicine at the University of Vienna and the University of Hamburg . After graduating from the University of Vienna medical doctor followed clinical and immunological activities and training as a specialist in dermatology . From 1970 to 1974 a research stay at the University of Cambridge followed . After his habilitation as professor in 1977, he was appointed head of the immunopathology department at the University of Vienna.

Awards

In 2003 Kraft received both the Wilhelm Exner Medal for the establishment of new forms of diagnostics and therapy for allergic diseases and the Clemens von Pirquet Medal from the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology . In addition, Kraft and its employees have received national and international scientific awards in the field of allergy research.
