Dietrich Osmer (born January 18, 1883 in Hastedt , † March 9, 1944 in Bremen-Lesum ) was a German politician and Lord Mayor of the East Westphalian city ​​of Herford in what is now North Rhine-Westphalia .

Career

From 1907 Dietrich Osmer was a board member of the German Metalworkers' Association . He headed its office in Rathenow as secretary from 1911. Before Osmer was elected second mayor of the city of Herford on July 11, 1919, he held the post of welfare director in Nowawes from 1917 on . In 1922 he was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Herford and remained in this office until his retirement due to incapacity for work on March 31, 1928. His retirement pension was withdrawn on May 1, 1933 after the National Socialists came to power. The legal basis for this measure was Section 2 of the Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service .
