Dietrich der Rich

Dietrich der Reiche (* around 1170 ; † around 1235 ) was an influential citizen of Vienna .

Dietrich was a mint master , city ​​judge and one of the most influential citizens of Vienna in his day. He was also a favorite of the Babenberg Duke Leopold VI. Dietrich owned an estate in Zeismannsbrunn and donated a chapel there in 1211, which was consecrated to St. Ulrich . The name of the chapel was later transferred to the Viennese suburb of Sankt Ulrich (now the Neubau district ). The Viennese chronicler Jans Enekel described Dietrich in 1280 as "unmazen rich".
