Hassan Abdulaziz al-Saaty

Hassan Abdulaziz al-Saaty (born September 30, 1916 in Calioub near Cairo ) is an Egyptian sociologist , social scientist and long-time professor at the University of Cairo .

Life

Youth and education

The son of the watchmaker Abdulaziz as-Saati and his wife Harin Salem first attended the primary school in Calioub and then the secondary Islamic Khedive school in Cairo .

He then studied at the University of Cairo , at the University of London and the London School of Economics economics , social sciences and education . In 1938 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). Between 1939 and 1946 he passed various diplomas in his subjects, including a. but also in psychology and sociology .

academic career

In the same year he took up his first position as a lecturer for social sciences at the Higher Institute for Social Work in the Egyptian Ministry of Education. Three years later he moved to the University of Alexandria as a lecturer in sociology and in the same year took over an assistant professor of sociology.

In 1960 he accepted a professorship for sociology at Ain Shams University in Cairo, where he also held the position of dean between 1961 and 1964 .

He also held the following offices: Chairman , Department of Psychology and Sociology (1967–68); Chairman, Department of Philosophy and Sociology (until 1973).

In the mid-1970s he was also named as dean of the Faculty of Arts at the Arab University of Beirut .

Private

On January 4, 1943, he married Fawzey Diab. The marriage resulted in a son (Ezzat al-Saaty) and a daughter: Samia Al-Saaty , who today also holds a professorship for sociology at the University of Cairo . His hobbies were table tennis , walking and writing plays.
