Dietrich von Haeften

Hans-Dietrich von Haeften (born March 13, 1940 in Coburg ) is a retired German colonel . D. and non-fiction author.

Life

Haeften is the son of Lieutenant Colonel Hans-Georg von Haeften (1904–1942) and the daughter of General Ilse Keffel (1912–1990).

Haeften was retired from active service as a colonel in the Bundeswehr General Staff . After retiring, he began to write textbooks on sailing. He is an active member of the German Sailing Association and lives in Hamburg .

Haeften married Hedda Adams (* 1940) on June 2, 1966 in Duisburg . The couple has two sons.
