distribution and habitat

Main distribution area is Texas and Oklahoma to California and far in the south of Mexico ; so far one species has been found in Argentina . The retreat areas are always very individual and, depending on the region, show clear differences in color, structure and construction. Diguetia species prefer bulky shrubs or shrubby cacti in arid climates and can be found there in the shrub layer of any vegetation.

description

The body of the Diguetia species is densely covered with white hairs, which form the typical lines of the pattern. They have long, black-ringed legs. They withdraw into a 5 to 8 cm long, vertical, closed-top living tube, which is woven from threads like a bell of a trumpet in the center of an extensive mat. The opening is closed and camouflaged with leaves, bark fragments or soil particles that are collected from the immediate vicinity, usually from the plant to which the net is attached. In this retreat the females integrate their ice bags like roof shingles on top of each other.
