Oladimeji "Dimeji" Sabor Bankole (born November 14, 1969 in Abeokuta , Ogun State , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian politician .

biography

Bankole, son of the chief of the Egba tribe from the Yoruba people and former vice-chairman of the All Nigeria People's Party Alani Bankole, studied pedagogy at the University of Reading after completing his education , where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAEduc.). He later completed a military engineering course at Oxford University .

After completing his studies, he was initially Director of Freight Agencies Nigeria Limited between 1995 and 1998 and then until 2003 Executive Director for the operational business of West African Aluminum Products Limited (WAAP), of which his father is the CEO. At the same time he was director of ASAP Limited from 2000 to 2003.

His political career began in 2003 as a candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) with the first election to the House of Representatives (Nigerian House of Representatives), in which he also represents the constituency of Abeokuta South after his re-election on April 21, 2007 . As a member of parliament, he devoted himself in particular to finance and defense.

After parliament was constituted, he was elected speaker of parliament in 2007.

Bankole lost his constituency of Abeokuta South in the state of Ogun in the general election on April 9, 2011 .

On May 6, 2011, Bankole was arrested for corruption. He was suspected of corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to the EFCC, he failed to appear for hearings twice and showed a desire to venture abroad.
