The bulk carrier type Dimitrov 24 , also project 584 , of the Bulgarian Georgi-Dimitrov shipyard was built in a series of 64 units.
details
The design of the series took up essential features of the Polish bulk carrier type Stocznia Gdynia B470 , whose production ended in the early 1970s. The type was manufactured by the Georgi-Dimitrov-Werft in three series for different shipping companies. Starting with the type ship Vikhren , seven units (construction numbers 101 to 107) of the type 584 were built, followed by 44 units (construction numbers 108 to 151) of the 584Е, followed by 13 units (construction numbers 152 to 164) of the type 584/1 .
The ships are as Handysize - bulk carriers with aft mounted constructions designed. They have seven cargo holds , each with its own hatch, the folding hatch covers of which are hydraulically operated. Some units have four hydraulic ship cranes mounted amidships for cargo handling . This type of ship can transport around 25,000 tons with maximum unloading. The units are designed for the transport of various bulk goods , such as grain, coal, minerals, including various dangerous goods. The tank roof of the cargo hold is reinforced for the transport of ore. In addition, bagged goods, steel profiles, tubes and other bulk cargo can be transported, but no deck loads.
The ships are powered by a Sulzer two - stroke diesel engine . Various main engine models were installed, allowing speeds of around 15 to 16 knots . There are several auxiliary diesels and one emergency diesel generator available.
