Arthur Dinaux
Arthur Martin Dinaux (born September 8, 1795 in Valenciennes , † May 15, 1864 in Montataire ) was a French writer and historian . He published numerous works on the history of northern France and edited the Archives historiques et littéraires du nord de la France et du midi de la Belgique . Dinaux was a member of the Royal Belgian Academy of Sciences and the Académie d'Arras and a corresponding member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres .
Life
After studying in Cambrai , Dinaux worked as a dealer for several years. After marrying into a wealthy family, he concentrated on his literary and historical studies and was an honorary commercial judge from 1824 to 1828.
In 1822, at his instigation, excavations were carried out at Famars , during which over 30,000 Roman silver coins were found.
In 1853 Dinaux was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
