Diomidis Anastasiou Kyriakos ( Greek Διομήδης Α. Κυριακός , * 1811 in Spetses ; † 1869 in Italy ) was a Greek politician and prime minister and author of scientific books.

Family and studies

Kyriakos was the younger brother of Vice Admiral Ioannis Kyriakos, who died during the siege of Messolongi during the War of Independence . His grandson Alexandros Diomidis was also Prime Minister.

He graduated in law at the universities of Pisa and Paris . In 1835 he was appointed public prosecutor and public prosecutor at the court of first instance. As a recognized legal scholar, he helped in 1843 in drafting the constitution of 1844. In 1851 he was appointed professor of constitutional law. As such, from 1862 he was also a member of the commission for the drafting of the 1864 constitution. As a professor, he has published several legal and historical books.

Political career

In 1863 he was Minister for Religion and Education. From April 9 to May 10, 1863 he was finally Prime Minister of a transitional government.
