Zinovios Valvis
Zinovios Zafirios Valvis ( Greek : Ζηνόβιος Βάλβης) (* 1800 in Messolongi ; † 1872 or 1886 there ) was a Greek politician and former prime minister .
Valvis was the older brother of the former Prime Minister Dimitrios Valvis . He first completed a degree in theology at the seminary of Halki ( Heybeliada near Istanbul ). Later he studied law at the University of Pisa . During the reign of King Otto I , he was a public prosecutor. After he resigned from this office in 1841, he worked as a lawyer. 1849 was Minister of Finance in the cabinets of Konstantinos Kanaris and Antonios Kriezis .
From February 24 to April 9, 1863 and from April 28, 1864 to August 7, 1864 he was Prime Minister of transitional governments.
After retiring from politics, he settled in his hometown of Messolongi, where he died impoverished after turning down a state pension offered to him, considering it a financial burden for Greece.
