Dirk Bastian (born March 15, 1968 ) is a former German soccer player . He played a Bundesliga game .
Career
Dirk Bastian was in the professional squad of FC Homburg in the 1986/87 season . On matchday 12 he was substituted on for Frank Lebong in the game at VfL Bochum (0-0) in the 76th minute . Although this was to remain his only first division game, Bastian secured a place in the history books because at 2.02 meters he was the largest Bundesliga player to date. His record was only set almost 15 years later by the Czech Jan Koller . Bastian later played 18 second division games for FC Homburg from 1990 to 1992 .
